Sing Songs Together!
As I’ve been studying history and current events, I’ve been considering what I can contribute to the restoration and successful continuation of our American Republic.
Values and traditions are being lost as we are more continually inundated with technology and information. I observe that most of us allow ourselves to get caught up in the news of the day, but neglect to look back in to history enough to get a clear perspective on what’s going on around us. This is not best learned from reading factual recitations of the past in books. History and culture is carried forward most effectively in stories and songs.
There is so much that is unique to human beings, but I think one of the most remarkable things we can do is SING. We are each created with a musical instrument included! Singing together creates a bond unlike any other, and I believe that one of the more significant losses to our culture today is community singing.
I am a professional singer, but not a singing teacher. My purpose here is to provide a library of videos and other resources to facilitate group singing.
Please use these materials in any and all settings, including but not limited to:
- family gatherings
- club meetings
- large or small events
- 9/12 projects
- home schooling
- just by yourself for your own inspiration
Most of this Sing Songs Together project will be videos of me leading you in singing WITH me. I’ll do a wide variety of songs:
- patriotic
- silly
- spiritual
- inspiring
- famous
- unknown
- folk
- Classical
- (this list could get endless!)
My goal is to present them simply, so anyone can sing with me. DO NOT try to tell me you “can’t” sing. How well you think you can sing is irrelevant. This is not about HOW to sing, but WHY to sing!
Join me for some fun, and Sing Songs Together – with me!
Yankee Doodle
I sing this American classic folk song with my sister, Lisa.
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Lisa, my sister, and I lead you in this most familiar round. What’s a round? A quick internet search will reveal that.
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
My sister, Lisa, and I sing my all-time favorite hymn.
Home on the Range
My sister, Lisa, joins me to sing this signature American folk song.
God Bless America
This is one of Irving Berlin’s masterpieces, and I sing it with my sister, Lisa.
Hail, Kiwanis!
The Kiwanis Club of Northridge traditionally has sung this to close each meeting. This should help them out!
Freres Jacques
My sister, Lisa, helps me sing this 2-part round, first in French, then in English.
Eensy Weensy Spider
My sister, Lisa, joins me for this classic nursery rhyme, and even shows the hand motions.
